The low down on this week's menu - there's an over abundance of avocados and dairy products in O2 this week. We'll try to balance that out with legumes and dark leafy greens. Buche de Noel  will be making an appearance, at least once. Annual Opus gingerbread boy decorating will be taking place all week. Arms and legs will be available to our customers.

The low down on this week's menu - Going on  a comfort-carb over load this week. Aside from that, things are looking genuinely tentative. Tuesday and Wednesday might see a switcheroo of soups. That'll be based on whim. On the off chance that whole almonds arrive earlier than expected, the Caesar salads might move from Friday's menu to Tuesday's. Dragon Noodle dressing is based on pickled ginger juice. Pickled ginger is coming in the delivery with the whole almonds.

Thursday's Sub will have our house made pickled peppers, arugula, and I'm not sure what else. Cheese, natch. Tomatoes, prob. Something else, hopefully.

Beyond Cool

The low down on this week's menu -  As always, the menu is tentative. Produce deliveries, time constraints and mood swings all play a part. The beautiful chard we'll be chopping into the soup on Tuesday came from the Hamilton community farm. Quesadillas on Wednesday will probably be chipotle black bean, sweet potato if we have any, baby spinach and mixed cheeses. Our resident whoopie pie expert wants pumpkin-chocolate  chip whoopie pies this week. The marinated tomato salad might be switched with Tuesday's bulgar salad, depending on time available for prep. Calzones could be marinated artichoke heart and asiago.

A head's up on this week's menu - We have had problems in the past getting nice plump mung sprouts from the produce delivery co. If they don't please, the chili orange cold noodles will be replaced by another noodle salad. Toppings for the pizzettes won't be determined until the last minute. Fontina and Red Onion Jam Panini is a new item. Fans of our red onion pickles will enjoy this. Week 4 of our Whoopie Pie Wednesday experiment brings back one  of the most requested desserts we do, classic pumpkin.
News from the dark side - our Official Source says, 'treasured Opus employee Dan Knishkowy played guitar and sang at the "Cafe Con Leche" open mic in Opus 1 [sic] on Tues. As requested, Soba noodle salad is back. Coconutty whoopie pies are also a request item. Avocado heroes on Wednesday are totally dependent on the avocados being ripe by then. I'm hopeful. Even though he 'isn't really a big cake fan', we plan on celebrating Duncan's birthday with a cake on Friday. Whoops. Duncan's birthday isn't until next week. [Someone needs to practice reading calendars.] Happy Birthday cake next Friday then.

The low down on this week's menu - Monday's noodle offering is dependent on produce delivery. If the cucumbers arrive early enough we'll have peanut noodles. If not, then ginger noodles. Wednesday's pizzettes will either be our old favorite pesto-tomato-baby spinach-mozzarella, or our new favorite marinated artichoke heart-roasted garlic-asiago. Have to wait and see how much of the artichoke hearts are left after Tues. hero lunch. Dessert on Friday is wholly dependent on the weather. Frankie will understand.

French Onion Pizzette - chopped kalamatas and fresh rosemary kneaded in to the dough [yes, we always make our own doughs] then mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, caramelized onions, cracked black pepper and a spritz of olive oil.
A Panini without a title yet - basil mayo, grilled eggplant, grilled onion, tomato and swiss. Or maybe a red chili aioli instead of the basil spread. Fontina instead of swiss. Sauteed garlic mushrooms. This is the D part.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake  - there has to be a way
Chocolatey Raspberry Crumb Bars  - some type of brown sugar cookie crust, a light chocolate ganache layer, seedless raspberry jam, walnuts mixed into a streusal. Still undecided which direction to go with this.

The Low down on this week's menu - this week's menu is all about using up foods. No time to be ordering a case of sweet potatoes. Avocados were still on sale this week, and if I come up with another idea for Wednesday, I'll go with it. although the cheddar /avocado panini went over pretty well the last time that we had it. Desserts are really all up in the air They've turned into an all request line up lately, and I'm loathe to change that now. Frankie's keen on ice cream sandwiches, so perhaps there'll be a nice warm day this week we can accommodate him in that. Friday's lunch is either going to be avocado sushi or quesadillas.

 A head's up and low down on this week's menu - Pizzettes will probably be "the usual" toppings-wise. Avocado heroes on Wednesday are dependent on the avocados ripening by then. This week's avocados are currently rock hard. If they just aren't soft enough by Wednesday, the heroes will be served on Thursday, and the roasted vegetable sandwich will replace them on Wed. Possible, but not probable.  Ian could change his mind about the apple cake on Wednesday, and request a different cake. Or pie, or maybe eclairs. I'm not totally on board about the grilled reuben on Thursday. That could be replaced. Frankie's Spinach Salad is also subject to change.

News from the Dark Side -  Unofficial sources speculate that the blueberry muffin shortage in O2 is about to end.
Last week's cny awesome geographical feature, The Noses, is better enjoyed traveling west on I-90 than east.

Monday will either be cheddar/apple or cheddar/pickled red onion, not both, depending on produce delivery.
Tuesday's brown rice salad is a revamped version of last time's brown rice salad. Try this new mix.
Wednesday's Chevre Baguette is the one with goat cheese and a chop salad of artichoke hearts, peppers, onions, tomatoes. pepperoncini. Tentative plans are for the goat cheese, fig, red onion and walnut  chevre baguette  next week.
Friday is still up in the air, check back on Tuesday, we'll know by then.

Except for Friday's p.b. fudge brownies, all desserts are new-to-us-here.

Pizzettes on Thursday will probably be pesto, baby spinach, tomato and fresh basil. There is a  remote possibility of roasted butternut and fresh sage.

Chili orange cold noodles is an old favorite of ours. Similar to the Dragon noodles in complexity, linguini tossed with a chili-orange infused oil, garnished with orange zest, radishes, green onions, sesame seeds. Try them, if you can. There's a lot of work involved, and limited time available. Possible substitution - Ginger Noodles.

News from the Dark Side - Official Changing the Guard will take place on Monday, March 26th, 7:30 a.m.
Last week's research and development included French Onion Soup Panini, Thai Butternut Noodles with coconut-lime sauce, pasticciotti, upside down berry-cornmeal cake with  basil, and kafteri. Look for all of these soon.
